I am a health-conscious foodie who recognizes the fact that nobody’s perfect! Whilst I love to exercise and incorporate nutrient dense foods into my diet as much as possible, I also like to live a little – this is where the confession part of my blog comes into play. No matter your best intentions, ‘life’ happens. One minute you have plans to go for an early evening run and the next you find yourself curled up on the sofa watching netflix glass of wine in hand & wondering what to order for takeout. To some this would constitute a major diet failure, but in the grand scheme of things that piece of pizza and ice cream you had last night is not a big deal. So quit beating yourself up! Put your setbacks to one side and get back on track. Like most things in life, progress is not linear. It will consistently fluctuate, but as long as the overall trend is up, well that constitutes progress.

Many people think that cultivating & maintaining a healthy diet means you have to make huge sacrifices like giving up donuts, cookies or your mom’s delicious homecooking. There are some things in this world that you just can’t live without and you shouldn’t have to! I hope to change this mindset & help people see that being healthy does not have to be a hardship. As with most things in life, balance is key. Hopefully you will find that once you reduce your consumption of processed foods, your body and taste buds adapt and start to crave different, unexpected foods and the choices you make about what you put into your bodies becomes far more conscious.

So, what’s my story? Well after studying languages I went on to study law at University with a view to being able to help people on a daily basis. The reality was not quite what I had expected and rather than feeling passionate & fulfilled by my day job, I felt despondent & frustrated. Slowly I started to set myself up so I could leave the world of law behind and venture into health and wellness. In the last few years I have been busy pursuing my passions and collecting a string of qualifications along the way. I am a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200) with the Yoga Alliance. I am also a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM, a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer and a Precision Nutrition Level 1 certified nutrition coach.

This blog is primarily dedicated to my first love, FOOD! As a coach, this site started as a resource for clients but I hope it serves as an inspiration to all looking to nourish their bodies and taste buds. My love for food has driven me to explore other passions, and so you will also find fitness tips & travel guides as I eat my way around the world. When I’m not busy training, coaching or writing, I love hanging out with my fiancé and our two dogs Mo & Marley.

To fulfill this ambition, together with my fiancé, Jason Ackerman, we have founded an online nutrition coaching business Own Your Eating, to bring our nutrition services to the world in a user-friendly online platform.
